From Classroom Conversations to Community Food Futures
As the alma mater of our co-founder Yuki, the Department of Geography at NUS shaped more than just academic curiosity — it laid the foundation for how we view sustainability, food systems, and our relationship with the environment.
Where It All Started
Yuki’s time in NUS Geography was more than just about textbooks and theories, but also about perspectives.
The questions explored in class around human-environment interactions, urban sustainability, and geographies of food became the guiding philosophies behind the farm we built.
From there, the collaboration continued as a graduate giving back to the very classrooms that sparked it all.

What We’ve Built Together
Guest Lectures (GE1101E)
Invited by Dr Gretchen Coffman, we’ve been returning to NUS Geography’s introduction module to share our journey with new batches of students. We bring stories, soil, and even seedlings into the classroom.
These sessions show how geography extends beyond theory into lived experience. Our urban farm becomes a case study for how everyday decisions - what we grow, eat, and waste - shape broader systems. As the semester closes, the lecture also serves as a nudge: a reminder that Geography majors can begin making an impact right from their time in school.
“We want students to see that change begins here, in the everyday, in the local, and in the now.”

What We’ve Built Together
NUS Geography Summer Field Trip (2024)
We hosted students on-site to explore how something as everyday as eating can be viewed through a geographical lens, touching on food systems, resource flows, and place-based practices.
The visit helped ground sustainability in the familiar and brought academic concepts to life.

What We’ve Built Together
NUS College Fireside Chat
We joined a panel to discuss sustainable food production in Singapore, from policy and technology to behavioural change and local growing.
It was an evening of rich dialogue that reaffirmed the power of small producers in a big system.
Outcomes We’re Proud Of
Reflective Learning
Sparked reflections on food, sustainability, and scale among Geography and College students.
Geography in Action
Demonstrated how geography can be applied beyond academia — in farms, businesses, and community spaces.
Farming as Activism
Fostered a growing network of student thinkers who now see farming as more than just agriculture, but as activism.
Bring Learning to Life
If you're looking to bridge the classroom and the real world through food, farming, or sustainability - let’s explore what we can grow together.
We’d love to co-create meaningful learning experiences with your school or department.
