From One Visit to a Growing Partnership in Food Literacy
What began as a single farm visit soon became a valued partnership. NIE has been instrumental in opening doors for us to engage with both local and international educators - helping us share not just how food is grown, but why it matters in the context of Singapore’s future.
We are grateful to the professors and teacher-trainers who saw potential in our small farm and believed in our role as a partner in education.
What We’ve Built Together
Annual Farm Visits for Educators
Every year, we welcome groups of local and international educators from NIE to our farm. These visits give participants a deeper understanding of Singapore’s 30 by 30 food security goal, the role of urban agriculture, and how sustainability can be woven into everyday conversations in the classroom.
We introduce them to urban farming, while also highlighting the importance of food literacy and local produce. Many walk away with ideas to bring back to their own schools, whether through lesson plans, sustainability clubs, or hands-on growing activities.

Guest Speaker at ESEPP 23/24 Awards Ceremony
We were invited to speak at the Empowering STEM Education Professionals Programme (ESEPP 23/24) Awards Ceremony-an annual platform that brings together STEM teachers, educators, researchers, and industry professionals to share ideas, challenges, and inspiration.
Jason shared our farm’s journey and reminded educators of the lasting impact they create through their work, quoting:
“A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.”
It was a moment that bridged farming with education- both long-term commitments that shape the future beyond what we see today.
Outcomes We’re Proud Of
Engaging Educators
Reached hundreds of teachers through NIE farm tours and engagement sessions.
Teaching Through Local Food
Helped position local food production as a teaching tool in areas like Geography, Science, and Character & Citizenship Education.
Bridging Theory and Practice
Built a shared space where academic theory meets lived, practical experience.
Grow Beyond the Classroom
If you're an educator, school leader, or training provider interested in experiential sustainability education - we’d love to explore how we can support your goals.
Let’s cultivate learning experiences that grow far beyond the farm.
